Sleeper Plus offers a different proposition, with compact cabins or berths and shared showers. Decide first whether your priority is privacy, a particular bed arrangement or the full transcontinental crossing; these choices have a greater impact than the train's name alone.

Dining and the daily rhythm

Dining-car service is a central part of the sleeper experience. VIA's onboard chefs offer changing meal choices, with meat, fish and vegetarian main courses. Prestige includes bar service, while Sleeper Plus drinks inclusions differ. Dietary arrangements need advance discussion; do not assume a photographed dish or a particular specialist meal will be available on every departure.

How to plan this journey well

Confirm the exact accommodation, departure dates and arrival day before arranging flights. VIA describes the full crossing as about four days and four nights, and railway timings should not be treated as a guaranteed connection. Build flexibility around the journey, especially if adding independently booked tours. The train does not offer onboard Wi-Fi. Keep essential medication and overnight items readily accessible, and check baggage arrangements for your actual stations.

Request an individual assessment from VIA before booking. An accessible cabin for two is offered, but narrow corridors restrict movement with mobility aids and some stations are not accessible. Confirm boarding, bathroom, bed-transfer and meal-service arrangements together.
