Rocky Mountaineer

Rocky Mountaineer is a daylight luxury train designed around the Canadian Rockies. Guests travel by train during the day, sleep in hotels and rejoin the train the next morning, eliminating sleeper compromises and keeping mountain, canyon and river scenery visible.

For the best route, cabin and date for your journey, email our luxury rail specialists with your preferred travel period and number of guests.

Signature geography

Vancouver to Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper via Kamloops

Why choose this train?

Daylight glass-dome scenery—with the details made clear.

First Passage to the West links Vancouver with Banff or Lake Louise; Journey through the Clouds reaches Jasper; Rainforest to Gold Rush follows a longer northern arc via Whistler and Quesnel. GoldLeaf adds a bi-level dome, dedicated dining room and outdoor viewing platform, while SilverLeaf serves meals at the seat in a single-level glass-dome carriage.

Cabins and suites

Accommodation varies materially by category. Our specialists compare floor space, bed configuration, private bathroom facilities, daytime seating and storage rather than relying only on the cabin name. We will explain the meaningful differences before you make a decision.

Dining and onboard life

Breakfast and lunch are served on board and matched to the selected service level. Hotel dinners are generally separate unless a package specifies otherwise. Dress is polished casual, with layers, sunglasses and a camera more useful than formal wear.

Dining style, dress expectations and included beverages can differ by route or cabin. Ask us to confirm what applies to your chosen departure so the onboard experience meets your expectations.

Practical planning

Rocky Mountaineer sells both core rail journeys and multi-night packages, so duration labels can be confusing. A classic two-day rail experience includes one hotel night in Kamloops; longer packages add destination hotels, coaches and activities. There are no sleeping cabins.

Accessibility and individual requirements

The operator can plan boarding assistance and has specific guidance by service level, train equipment and hotel. Review the complete itinerary because coaches and activities may have different access than the train.

Please share mobility, dietary, medical or celebration requirements at the inquiry stage. We will identify what can be requested and what must be confirmed before booking.

Best suited for

Scenery-first travelers who prefer daylight viewing and hotel beds to overnight sleeper cabins.

If you are comparing this train with another exceptional journey, email us what matters most—privacy, scenery, culinary experience, culture, pace or cabin comfort—and we will help narrow the choice.
