A polished onboard wardrobe is only part of the plan. Safari drives, temple visits, Highland walks, high-altitude mornings and tropical humidity each demand practical clothing.
Use layers
Train interiors can be climate controlled while platforms and excursions vary sharply in temperature. Lightweight, packable layers are more useful than one heavy garment.
Respect the evening atmosphere
Check the specific train. Some journeys encourage formal or black-tie dress; many others are smart casual. Comfortable, elegant footwear matters in moving carriages.
Keep essentials close
Cabin storage is limited. Carry medication, documents, a compact overnight kit and valuables in a manageable bag, especially when main luggage is stored separately.
