What makes Bernina Express distinctive?
The panoramic coaches are designed around large windows curving toward the roof, making the changing terrain the focus of the ride. Both first and second class use this sightseeing format. Regional trains also travel the Bernina Line, but they are a different product with different windows and booking arrangements. Choose the actual Bernina Express panoramic service if that experience is important, and check whether your selected departure runs from Chur or St. Moritz. These starting points cover different lengths of journey and should not be treated as interchangeable.

This is not an overnight sleeper service. Compare the exact seating or service class, dining arrangements and accessibility of the chosen carriage. Any hotel nights in a wider package are separate from accommodation aboard the train.

The standard panoramic experience offers snacks and drinks through onboard service, rather than an included multi-course restaurant programme. Budget for refreshments separately and avoid assuming that a first-class ticket includes meals. If a substantial lunch is important, plan it around the timetable or confirm the current catering choices before travel; special culinary products have their own arrangements.

How to plan this journey well
Arrange both a valid travel ticket or pass and the required panoramic-seat reservation. Check the precise route and service number: RhB has announced a Vereina diversion for trains 951 and 952 from 29 October to 13 November 2026. This changes the usual Chur approach. Leave sensible time for onward connections, check cross-border travel-document requirements separately and pack with limited luggage storage in mind when combining the journey with a longer holiday.
